MicroLoan’s board members help to steer the charity to ensure that we achieve both social and financial goals and comply with the relevant legislation in each jurisdiction.

Steve Mark — Chairman

Steve MarkSteve Mark has extensive financial services experience as a management consultant and business leader, having led domestic and international growth strategies for asset management and financial advisory businesses. Steve leads the Strategic Accounts team with Fidelity Charitable, the nation’s leading Donor Advised Fund. Previously, Steve held leadership roles with TIAA-CREF, Fidelity Investments, and was a senior manager in the International Privatization Group of Coopers & Lybrand Consulting. Steve also led his own consulting firm, SRM Associates, and has small business and personal lending experience in the mortgage banking industry. Steve has a longstanding interest in international small/medium enterprise development, and is a member of the NEID, the New England International Donors organization.

Steve is a Chartered Financial Analyst, and has an M.B.A. from the Boston University Graduate School of Management, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Union College in Schenectady, NY. He lives in the Boston area with his wife and two children, and enjoys travel, music, and skiing.

Scott Schroeder

Scott SchroederScott was a corporate executive at American Express, Dun and Bradstreet, and Citigroup for nearly 20 years. His roles included product and business development, sales, direct marketing and online/e-commerce business oversight for both consumer and small business segments. For the past 8 years he has led communications, marketing and fundraising for two international development non-profits (Plan International and Pathfinder International) as Chief Marketing Officer and Vice President of External Engagement, respectively. Scott has an BS from Georgetown University and an MBA from Columbia Business School.

Rokaya Helfer

Rokaya HelferRokaya Helfer is the Manager for Executive Communications and Board Relations at Women’s World Banking, a global NGO dedicated to advancing women’s financial inclusion and economic empowerment. Based in New York, Rokaya works closely with Women’s World Banking’s Board of Directors and Executive Leadership Team to oversee all governance obligations and board initiatives, and leads various strategic activities for the Office of the President. Prior to joining Women’s World Banking, Rokaya worked at Richards, Kibbe & Orbe LLP and at West, Thomson Reuters. She holds a B.A. in History and International Affairs from Boston University.

Shaan Revuru

Shaan RevuruShaan is a serial entrepreneur with a passion for creating value, generating growth, and delivering sustainable business and technology solutions that have a positive impact on people’s lives around the world. Shaan is the founder of several startups including, FaceSpotR Corporation, CoolShopR Inc., OpenAppliance Corporation, ManageTheCrowd Inc., Content OverDrive Inc. delivering innovative solutions. Shaan is currently the Head of Products and Innovation at Pycube, a healthcare focussed technology company. Before joining Pycube, Shaan worked in leadership and management roles at aMind Solutions, Oracle, Ernst & Young, and Baan (now Infor).

Shaan has dual MBA degrees from Georgetown University – Robert E. McDonough School of Business & Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service, and ESADE Business School, an MS in Technology Management from George Washington University – School of Business and an under graduate degree in Accounting and Economics from University of Delhi.

Hilary Chidi

Hilary ChidiHilary Chidi is a senior vice president and head of product for TransUnion’s consumer business. In 2019, he also assumed responsibility for TransUnion’s global sustainability mission and efforts as chief sustainability officer. He is based in TransUnion’s Chicago headquarters and lives in Hinsdale, IL, with his wife and two sons. Prior to joining TransUnion, Hilary was a vice-president at TIAA in New York, where he was focused on helping to drive the success of various financial products for the consumer market. Hilary is a seasoned executive, with a strong track record in overseeing high-visibility/high-impact initiatives and groups within complex organizations, including Goldman Sachs and the Federal Reserve Bank.

Hilary holds a master of liberal arts and a master of science from Harvard University and The London School of Economics (LSE), respectively, as well as an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.

Malin Rosenkvist — Head of Philanthropy & Communications, MLF UK

Malin RosenkvistMalin is Head of Philanthropy and Communications at MicroLoan, responsible for managing relationships with high-value individual donors, ensuring that they have full insight into the impact of their philanthropic giving.

She brings ten years of experience in business development and fundraising in the international development sector to this role. Prior to joining MicroLoan Malin worked with numerous charities focusing on education and poverty alleviation in sub-Saharan Africa. Her expertise is major gifts, and she has a track record of setting up successful major donor programs and developing impactful corporate partnerships.

In this role Malin also develops tailor-made partnerships, events and employee engagement opportunities for corporate funders to maximize the mutual benefits. Malin has a degree in International Politics and Development from the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London and has lived, worked, and traveled extensively in sub-Saharan Africa.

Dan Healy, CPA

Dan Healy Dan is a CPA / MBA, and currently is a managing director at Guggenheim Partners. He has previously served as the Chief Audit Executive at two Fortune 500 multinational corporations. Dan’s nonprofit experience includes 20 years serving as Treasurer and Vice Chair of three nonprofits. He is a seasoned financial professional and qualified audit committee expert experienced in advising financial service and nonprofit boards. He is also a frequent speaker on corporate and nonprofit governance, as well as strategies to prevent fraud and embezzlement losses. Past speaking engagements include national and international conventions of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Institute of Internal Auditors and the United Way Worldwide Finance Talent and Technology Forum.

After receiving an accounting degree from Canisius College in Buffalo and working in public accounting, Dan earned an MBA from the University of Rochester Simon School of Business. He has previously worked at HSBC, GE and the Brinks Company as the Chief Audit Executive. Today Dan holds the role of Managing Director – Head of Audit at Guggenheim Partners, a global investment and advisory firm with approximately $300 billion under management. Dan lives outside Chicago with his lovely wife and two children.

Board Advisors

John Appel

John Appel John Appel brings broad industry expertise in agriculture and chemicals as well as deep leadership experience in both strategy and commercial operations. Currently, he serves as President of BPS Agriculture, a diversified agricultural holding company. Prior to BPS Agriculture, John served as Vice President of Customer Solutions at Exacto Inc., where he led the marketing team and sales teams for Agriculture, Turf & Ornamental, and Industrial Vegetation Management business units. John has also held various roles at Syngenta, including R&D Strategy Manager in Switzerland, Marketing Manager Africa Middle East, US Business Manager, and Product Marketing Lead.

Over the course of his international career, John has led numerous businesses through significant growth in sales, profitability, and market share, and helped shape his companies’ strategic agendas in numerous areas. In addition, he has also gained extensive cross-cultural experience from living in Switzerland, working in numerous global roles, and traveling extensively.

John holds a BA in chemistry and an MBA in finance from Lehigh University in Pennsylvania.

Sheena Jaffer

Sheena JafferCurrently, Sheena serves as Senior Associate, World Enabled, a mandate focused on building inclusive societies where people with disabilities and older persons can fully develop their talents and reach their full potential Prior to this, Sheena has served in senior management roles in the nonprofit, academic and corporate sectors.

Sheena considers herself a global citizen with a mission to serve humanity. She speaks several languages and thrives in finding pathways for national/local governments; the international community and civil society to work collaboratively for greater good and sustainable impact.

Born in Tanzania, and having worked in international development, she has travelled the globe and has a deep commitment towards alleviating poverty and inequalities that lend to a better quality of life. Influenced by her parents and ingrained in her upbringing is the spirit of enterprise and determination to lift up the most vulnerable and marginalized. Over the years, Sheena has developed a reputation of creatively harnessing the human advantage through her ethical and practical hands-on approach in cultivating a purpose driven impact lens to drive meaningful change. Coupled with her down to earth humanistic and humorous style, she has been known for releasing fresh thinking and a positive approach in making things happen.

Cumulatively, Sheena brings over 25 years of management acumen and a conviction rooted in life experiences. She has demonstrated an impressive track record in leadership, advocacy, capacity building, forging institutional relationships and partnerships, spearheading multi-million dollar grassroots fundraising and resource development campaigns, empowering colleagues, managing and coaching thousands of volunteers and serving as the architect and implementer of large scale public events.

Colleen Vucinovich

ColleenColleen is Assistant Professor of Business Administration at Principia College, a liberal arts college founded in 1912 and located in southern Illinois. Her teaching portfolio includes Management, Strategic Management, Organizational Effectiveness and International Business. She has served as Faculty Senate President and Department Chair of Business Administration and Economics. Colleen holds an MBA, MS in Strategic Planning, and Postgraduate Certificates in Corporate Governance and Leadership from Edinburgh Business School, Scotland.

Previously, Colleen founded a cosmetic manufacturing company based in Johannesburg, South Africa and served as the CEO from 2001 to 2012. A South African with a rich and diverse career spanning 30 years, Colleen has strong ties to Southern Africa through family, friends, former customers and employees.
