Baking can mean many different things to different people. For some it is a weekend hobby, others a way to bond with family and friends, and for several people, such as the MicroLoan Foundation’s baking clients, it is a business. But no matter how baking applies to one’s life, it seems to possess the universal characteristic of providing comfort and nourishment, whether to a household, a community, or simply the baker themselves.
In 2011, MicroLoan distributed over 6,000 loans to baking clients, the equivalent of over £30,000. That’s certainly a lot of dough! Now we want you to get in on the baking! From October 15th-21st we will be hosting an entire week of baking in support of our baking clients. We are thrilled to have a special recipe donated by Lorraine Pascale to share with everyone who takes part in the campaign. Lorraine is behind the wonderful Ella’s Bakehouse in Covent Garden, the author of two brilliant cookbooks and the star of BBC Two’s ‘Baking Made Easy.’ Along with trying out Lorraine’s recipe, MicroLoan will be hosting various events for you to participate in, including the 1st annual Big Micro Bake Off culminating in a competition between three finalists with a special prize for the winner. We encourage everyone to get in the kitchen and have their hand at some baking. From holding a bake sale in your office to helping judge our Bake Off, we would love for everyone to get involved and start baking for the MLF bakers!
