The Malawi Challenge, set up by one of MicroLoan’s Ambassadors, Lynne Turner, will see 20 women push their physical and mental limits on a three day trek to conquer the Mount Mulanje massif in Southern Malawi.
World leading energy company Centrica has kindly sponsored the costs of the trip for its Women’s Leadership network, meaning every penny the intrepid 20 adventurers raise can go straight to MicroLoan to help them empower women across Africa to work their way out of poverty. In the run up to the trek, the Centrica team will prepare by training together as well as spending time exploring how the challenge will stretch their horizons and capabilities, personally and professionally.
During the trek they’ll be exploring the hiking trails of the Mount Mulanje massif, camping in mountain huts. The trip will also allow them to see first-hand how their efforts will help the women and their communities. They will accompany a MicroLoan Loan Officer on their round of meetings with the charity’s groups in rural villages near Salima.
Keen to expand the trip beyond Centrica employees, Lynne has also set up a second trip directly after the first which is open to everyone. For details of how to join this trip of a lifetime, click here
