Lowe Riders breeze through RideLondon and raise vital funds for MicroLoan

On Sunday 4th August, the Lowe Riders team from DLKW Lowe successfully completed the 100 mile Prudential Ride London course with a combined time of 6hrs 40mins.

Emma Donne kicked things off at 06.54 with a 24 mile leg from the Olympic Park to Hampton Court, finishing in 1hr 20mins. She handed over to Lucy Jay who set off through the suburbs of South West London and into leafy Surrey. Lucy had been a bit pessimistic about her cycling abilities but she whizzed through her 21 miles arriving at Newlands Corner on the North Downs in 1hr 45mins…. so far ahead of schedule that she had to wait 10 mins for Sam Jones to arrive to take over! Sam set off to tackle 28 miles across some of the hillier parts of Surrey. On Leith Hill he overtook Boris and after negotiating a few more ups and downs and the famous Box Hill, he finished his leg in 1hr 45mins. Tristan Tennant took on the glorious 27 miles back into London to receive the cheers and adulation of the spectators on the Mall in a time of 1hr 50mins. Extra kudos go to Tristan for probably being the only man attempting the road race on a mountain bike!

It was an exhilarating experience racing through the main roads of London with an army of fellow cyclists. We loved taking part so much that we signed up for next year’s event as soon as the ballot opened! We’ve still got work to do before we hit our fundraising target, but with some fun office fundraising events coming up we know we’ll get there.
