MicroLoan’s group CEO, Medha visits Malawi

Recently, I embarked on a meaningful trip to Malawi, where I had the privilege of visiting the Ntchisi branch. This branch, recognised as one of our best performers in 2022, serves 5,600 active clients and has an outstanding portfolio quality. During my visit, I witnessed the incredible progress being made in adopting the Centre Model across branches and experienced firsthand the impact MicroLoan is making in the lives of women in Malawi.

One of the highlights of my trip was attending a centre meeting, an integral part of MicroLoan’s approach. I was delighted to see the positive transformation brought about by these gatherings. The women, united to form a strong support network, acting as safety nets for each other.

My time in Malawi shed light on several things. Firstly, I was deeply moved by the tremendous efforts made by our client officers who tirelessly travel rugged terrains to reach remote communities. Their unwavering commitment to delivering quality services to our clients is commendable and reflects our organisation’s dedication to making a meaningful difference.

Additionally, the visit underscored the resilience displayed by our clients, particularly those engaged in agriculture. In the face of climate change and its adverse effects, these courageous women continue to confront challenges head-on. Their determination to adapt, innovate, and secure a better future for themselves and their families is truly inspiring.

During my visit, I had the opportunity to witness the impact of MicroLoan’s agricultural portfolio. Many of our clients in Malawi are engaged in farming, cultivating crops such as maize, soya, and ground nuts. These women play a crucial role in their communities, not only by sustaining themselves but also by contributing to their communities.

My trip to Malawi was a reaffirming experience. Witnessing the dedication of our staff, the unity among our clients, and the transformative power of our programs reinforced the immense impact we are making in supporting women in Malawi. Despite the challenges they face, the spirit and resilience of our clients are truly remarkable.
